What do you do when the famous-ish guest vocalist on your song is simply too famous to help you promote it? Wait for them to become available? Nahhh, you just hire someone else!

Cobra Starship have done just that to perform their hit "Good Girls Go Bad" for their appearance on last night's Tonight Show. Instead of being stuck at the whim of Leighton Meester, the track's main drawcard who is busy filming Gossip Girl, they just went and asked Estelle to fill in for her! Observe...



Sure, Estelle went and changed the lyrics but these things happen. However, changing "hanging IN the corner with my five best friends" to "hanging ON the corner with my five best friends" is a small error but that one word does sort of give the song an entirely new meaning. Oh dear. Plus, her awkward hugging with the lead singer dude (I don't know his name... shall we call him Cobra?) made me feel uncomfortable but, hey, at least she was available to perform on the night.

Anyway, I *love* this song and a great part of that is because of Leighton (and the fun video). However, I admire the super-smarts of Cobra Starship for dealing with her little scheduling issue by hiring another famous singer to fill in for her. Since there's no chance of Leighton (EVER) being regularly available to join them on the road to sing her bits of the song, I hope they manage to get some other really cool artists to help out in the future.

I'd really like to see Gwen Stefani give it a go or even actual good girls who have gone bad like Lindsay Lohan or Miley Cyrus. What do you reckon? Maybe Leighton will never have to perform it again!*

With the new US TV season but weeks away, the networks have begun rolling out promos for returning shows. We were delighted to get our hands on those for two ‘Brain faves – Gossip Girl and 90210 (redux).

The CW has obviously found that last year’s “OMFG” Gossip Girl compaign was a massive success, because there’s more of where that came from for both shows this time around.

Of course in Australia we never even saw the end of 90210’s first season, and seeing as Ten have failed massively by wasting their digital channel with the calamity that is One, I suggest and endorse illegal download (I’m too lazy to do it myself, so please forward discs to The ‘Brain if you decided to go Robin Hood).

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester goes "bad"

No, not that one.

Yes, it's the second video post in a row, but we didn't think you could go without seeing Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester (who plays ever-conniving Blair Waldorf) singing away with Cobra Starship in their hook-up "Good Girls Go Bad".
Expect to hear more from Leigh-Leigh, who recently signed a record deal and has already leaked a few tracks on line (including a cover of "Bette Davis Eyes").
