Justin Timberlake's new scent

Justin smells like a Player
Allegedly
Not happy with just acting and playing golf, Justin Timberlake has found yet another way to avoid recording a new album. He's followed the lead of greats such as, um, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears and released a scent called Play.

Odd, since JT admits he doesn't wear cologne himself.

"I said, 'You know what? Actually, I don't really wear cologne that much'," Justin recalls of being approached to put his name to an overpriced bottle of ambergris. "I think, honestly, they took it as a challenge to create something that I would really want to wear."

Ye$, $omehow Givenchy were abled to help $elf-confe$$ed "quinte$$ential male" JT reali$e that a cologne could "compliment" his "all-natural pheromone$" and he quickly decided he was ju$t the man for the job.

"I sort of feel like nothing should take away from pheromones, because it's been chemically proven that those are the most attractive scents on people," Justin blabbed to Entertainment Tonight. "I'm sort of a minimalist, quintessential male. I like pretty fresh, clean scents. I don't like a barrage of smell, so I started talking with them about how do you achieve that fresh, clean scent? And they 'learned me' about citrus and wood flavors that you kind of add in to create that type of aroma. It's actually really fascinating how they do it."

Wow this seems like an ad, doesn't it? Maybe Givenchy should approach me about putting out a fragrance. Hell, I even wear it!

You can hear Justin go on and on about his perfume in the video below ... but what does Jessica Beil think about it? Hold your breath kids!

PS: Please record your album now Timberlake.

TRAILER! Justin Timberlake's new movie

MOVIE TRAILER:
THE OPEN ROAD

It's true. The 'Brain love Justin Timberlake...'s singing.

Sadly he's too busy making movies - like this one called The Open Road with Jeff Bridges - to focus on his music.

Check out the trailer for his latest acting effort...

Seems better than his previous actory-type ventures.... but yet beyond-boring. No?

FIRST LOOK: MADONNA "CELEBRATION" VIDEO!

SHE'S BAAAAAACK!

Madonna's upcoming greatest hits was rumoured to be titled Iconography, which I thought was brilliant... so naturally they're not going with that. Word on the street is that the first single "Celebrate" will be worked into the overall title, which is now apparently Celebration. It's no Iconography but I'll learn to deal. In time.

Today the first two promo clips for the release hit the interwebs. They're way-short (don't say you weren't warned) but also kinda exciting. Observe:

TEASER 1:

TEASER 2

This latest Greatest Hits in a long line of Madonna's Greatest Hits will be out... September 22.

PS: What songs are you hoping will be on the GH? I mean, it's only really recent stuff that wouldn't have already appeared on one of the previous ones, right?? In that spirit, I'm hoping "Love Profusion", "Jump", "Miles Away" and the JT collab "4 Minutes" get a nod as well as the golden oldies.

Justin Timberlake: Master Thespian, Idol Downsizes, Kylie in Single White Female Shock!

"But I'm an actor!"

"This is funny, no?" No.

Last weekend Justin Timberlake hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time and by all accounts he did his usual amazing job, displaying a natural flair for comedy and (unlike he comes across in interviews) amusing self-deprication. AND he brought back The Barry Gibb Talkshow with Jimmy Fallon.

But While Justin, who has never been shy about his desire to become a “proper” actor, always impresses on the comedy sketch show, he has failed dismally to do the same on the big screen; starring in flop after flop.

He started with a small role in TV movie Model Behaviour alongside Kathy-Lee Gifford and moved onto a cameo as a campy hair stylist in On The Line opposite his *NSYNC bandmates.

His first leading role was in the beffudling straight-to-DVD classic Edison in which he plays a journalist trying to uncover corruption in some futuristic city alongside Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman (they all should have known better).
Then there’s the truly awful Black Snake Moan with Christina Ricci and Samuel L. Jackson (I must say, he picks bad movies with good casts).
Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales is one of the most confusing films ever made, and while nobody saw it, it might be worth seeking out just for JT miming to The Killers' “All These Things I’ve Done”.
Odd teen murder
drama Alpha Dog plays like a well cast TV movie, and while Justin certainly doesn’t humiliate himself, he wasn’t troubled with any plaudits for his work either.

The Edison cast: spot the odd one out. It's LL Cool J? Dammit.

Then, after a string of mainly ill-advised dramatic roles, it looked like Justin was going to be saved! Noticing Justin’s canny knack for comedy on SNL, Mike Myers came up with the genius plan: he would cast him in his next movie. Unfortunately the movie turned out to be The Love Guru, one of the least funny comedies of all time.

Justin played Jacques “Le Coq” Grande, a French Canadian hockey player with a dodgy comedy accent and penchant for Speedos. That description made it sound far funnier than it is.

If Justin must act (and he seems to think this is the case) then may I suggest a sitcom? Or maybe a webshow? Why not just do another album for us?

In any case, why not watch one of the highlights of his most recent SNL appearance? Renuniting with Andy Samberg as their “Dick In A Box” singing duo, he performs an all new song “Mother Lovers”, perfectly timed for Mother’s Day.

Vital (?) Idol

So it has been announced that Australian Idol will mercifully do away with the Monday night elimination show, leaving a Sunday night "super show", a la Dancing With The Stars.
Painfully, the show will be stretched to a full two hours and in even worse news the brilliant and very funny James Mathison has left, just leaving us with the truly woeful Andrew G aka the biggest tool on Australian TV (Before you verbalise your next thought: Kyle Sandilands has never been anything but nice to me, Andrew would rather be looking in a mirror than give anybody else the time of day). Should be interesting.
(In the interests of full disclosure I should say that I spent an entire season working at Idol and I would sooner gauge out my eyes than watch it ever again. Every year I wonder why it comes back, but with Big Brother gone, Ten really needs a tent pole show for the last trimester of the year)

Kylie speaks!

Has anyone seen Ossie Ostrich lately?

On the announcement of her first US tour, Entertainment Weekly spoke to Kylie Minogue on how she feels about Paula Abdul recording all of her rejected songs.
Here’s what she had to say:

Recently, I don’t know if you saw, but Paula Abdul was on American Idol

I haven’t seen it! I’ve heard all about it.

She performed an unreleased track of yours that was leaked online last year.

"I’m Just Here for the Music". Yeah.

Did you know about that?

That’s just what happens with songs that are demo’d. I demo’d it, and it wasn’t on my album.

A couple months ago, she announced that her first single was going to be "Boombox", which is the title of your new remix album.

I know! What’s going on? [laughs]

My editor asked me if Paula was Single White Female-ing you.

If she comes out with feathers on her head, or in a leopard catsuit… [laughs]

Kylie acts like she's joking here, but I think it may have been a nervous laugh of terror.

Britney Spears hates her fans

An Open Letter To Britney Spears

Dear Britney Jean Spears,

It's me, Carolyn. May I call you, Britters? Cool. Look, I have to be honest, I know you're totally a superstar and that but it's honestly a wonder you have any fans left. In the universe.

It's safe to say I don't understand you... but that might equally be because of your absolutely appalling nails-down-a-chalkboard speaking voice. I fully admit you have fun songs when they don't suck and, pre-shaving-your-head, I'd rate you as unparalleled-awesome when it comes to dancing in your videos and such. However, this is not about me, it's about you and, believe it or not, back in the day when you dated Justin Timberlake, I have to say that people in general used to really like you.

However, over the past few years, as you're no doubt well aware, you've given many of those people so very many reasons to not like you. At all. I imagine it was tough work being a Britney Spears fan throughout your lip-synching in "live" performances, the marriage to K-Fed, your mental breakdown, that MTV performance and ensuing periodic abandonment of your children and dogs. However, while plenty of people ditched you and mocked you, your real fans stuck by you through the thick (remember your Dorritos-and-ice-blue-tracky-dacks phase?) and the very, very thin (two words: Brandon. Davis. - and believe me, I am not implying for one moment that he is thin). And how do you - or Team Britney - repay them? You go to war with them.

The news this week that your dad Jamie has demanded that BreatheHeavy.com (CLICK ON ME!), a fan site that has been critical of your conservatorship arrangement, close down and has hit them with charges for copyright violations based on reproducing your songs, videos, photos and such. Erm, it's a fan site! What freaking else would be on there? "The real issue, in my opinion, is hidden behind these Copyright Infringement claims, rather management, particularly her father/conservator, Jamie Spears, who makes $18,000 a month off his daughter, is desperately trying to hide the truth about Britney's imprisonment, and shut anyone up who disagrees," says site owner Justin Miller.

Fair call. It's just an opinion. And if nobody (your father) had made such a big legal deal about it, the universe at large would never have known. Sure, Justin might be a bit crazy. Is he attacking anyone with an umbrella like you, his idol, did ever so recently? Who knows? He's a "fan", which comes from the word "fanatic". It's right there in how he describes himself. As long as he's not saying dangerous or hateful things, the thing you should be grateful for is that he's fanatical about you... and now he's forced to use pixelated photos of you and refer to you as "Brittany Speerz". Is that what you really want?

With the amount of other fans that visit his site, until now Justin probably did more unpaid good for you than anyone you actually have day-to-day contact with. If this was a one-off incident, fine, I'd leave it be but it is disturbingly reminiscent of your 2006 attitude towards your then-biggest fan site, World of Britney (CLICK ON ME!). The then-webmaster, Ruben Garay, commented, after you refused to meet then-competition winners, that he had "exhausted his attempts" to make you "show appreciation for [your] millions of fans." Still, in the ensuing years, Ruben inexplicably remains a fan of yours. Cos that's what being a fan is. In it for the long haul.

The thing you don't seem to get, Britters, is that these are your real fans - the ones who are investing their lives into running websites that seemingly do nothing but promote you to other like-minded folk. As history has shown, they care about you more than you care about yourself. Even when you were so drugged out to even notice you left the house without wearing underwear, they were still listening to your music and hoping like hell you'd sort your life out. I have to say, if you expect people to buy your Candie's shoes and hideous perfumes just because you are the person hocking them, then shouldn't it work both ways? You can't just whore yourself out because the timing suits you. On top of that, shouldn't fans want to - and, more importantly, shouldn't they be able to - make comment on your life or career with complete freedom. You should know by now that some people will like some things you do and some people won't. It's the way the world works.

Britters, I know we haven't seen eye to eye, well, since the start of this letter... but my advice to you is to go after the people who sell fake merchandise on the sidewalk outside your concerts. Then, send your henchmen out after the scalpers making a mint off fans so desperate to see you in concert they'd hand over their weekly wage for the privilege. By all means, do everything you can to hunt down illegal downloads of your albums. You are right. These people ARE stealing directly from you. But your actual hardcore fans who care about everything you've ever done and ever will do in your career? These people are not the enemy. They're gems. They make you richer in so many ways and it's about time you started realising that.

Yours in Oops!...-YOU-Did-It-Again-ed-ness,
Carolyn Stewart

PS: Wade Robson is my favourite person on the planet and you really need him to be choreographing for you always. I don't know why you replaced him with others to choreograph your Circus tour. Dumb move. I'm just sayin'.
