James Franco returns to TV!
Is it April Fools Day? Or more like Christmas?
In a somewhat odd twist, big-screen star James Franco has signed on to daytime soap General Hospital for a two month long guest role. Two. Months. I don't even watch the show but WOWSERS. Also, I didn't think it was possible to love the former Freaks And Geeks hottie more but every time I am tricked into thinking that, he does something even better! Seriously, how fun is he?
He starts on air in the US on November 20 but cast and crew have been tight-lipped about the role. Insiders suggest he will play a mysterious person who is the "worst enemy" of Jason Morgan, played by Steve Burton... who just happens to share the same manager as James!
And, yes, that was: General. Freaking. Hospital. As delighted as I am by this news - and god forbid anyone in entertainment should do something fun and just cos they wanna - it has seemingly come out of nowhere. You'd expect the star of Milk/Spider-Man/Pineapple Express to go for something more high-brow or even Entourage, right?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills... or being punk'd... or that he needs money... or is high (oh) but it's seemingly confirmed. For realz! Executive producer Jill Farren Phelps says it's "an honour that an actor of Franco's caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles."
Damn straight... but good on him!
And just in case any other big names want in on the soaptacular action? Jori Peterson of ABC Daytime cheekily quips, "I'd like to add that there's an open invitation to any of his A-list costars to come on GH and try their chops in the soap world."
Seth Rogen? Now *that* I would watch.

I LOVE that he did this. I wish more people were this cool (Like when Usher did Bold and the Beautiful!). Only wish we actually got General Hospital still.
