I was stoked - yes, stoked! - to hear that one of the funniest web videos ever is being turned into a series.

Beached Az, an hilarious animated short about a beached New Zealand whale, has been a net sensation and spawned spin-off merchandise including t-shirts and mugs.

Now some smartie at the ABC has commissioned 11 more shorts which will see the cheeky whale beaching himself and meeting an array of new animal pals.

The eps will start on Thursday September 10 at 9.25pm on ABC2, but can been seen on the new website from, oh, about now.

"Nah, can’t eat a chip bru, can only eat plankton!" Classic.
